Tools of the Trade XVIII

Hello all

I haven't posted here in a while but it's time to jump back into it...

Sometimes naughty girls are sent to the corner. OK, usually.

I consider this to be a tool of discipline because it is very useful in the process. It can be humbling to stand in the corner which helps the lesson to be driven home. It is also a good place for the spankee to think about her behavior and what got her sent there.

I generally use cornertime in the middle of a spanking, as a break and a time to think. It's a good opportunity to allow the bottom to cool down a little and to evaluate how the session is going. I will also use it after a spanking as a time of reflection. I don't believe in using it for long periods of time, a few minutes is plenty I think. You'll read stories where someone is sent to the corner for an hour or more which I think is a bit much. Now if the corner is the only punishment (say from a distance) then longer periods are appropriate.

Cornertime can also be more 'fun' when used in a play spanking or role play scene. Then it's more of rest period between spankings or just part of the playful part of the scene. I'm very interested in the rituals of spanking and punishment and this is a major one I think.

Tools of the Trade XVII

This is a wooden spatula that I got in the dollar aisle at Target. Have I mentioned that I like that aisle? I always have to walk through because you never know what interesting items they will have that can be converted to spanking use. One has to be creative but that's what makes it fun.

This is a very stingy implement. It's thin and one side rounded off. It is similar to a ruler in that it's thin and wooden but there are no edges because they have been smoothed. It is long enough to smack both cheeks at once but short enough to have very good control. Because it is thin it leaves a good surface sting but it won't cause a lot of bruises.

It's thin enough that I suspect it will break one day but that's why I bought two!

FMS IV

By the time I got up Saturday morning I knew it was too much fun to leave early Sunday so I called and pushed my flight back to Sunday PM. I took a quick walk on the beach and waded in the warm water. When they say Beach Party they mean it LOL

Later that afternoon I had a meeting with Short4ever. As we started she announced that she is a fan of wood. This is not something I hear a lot and seeing as how I too like wood paddles, I knew this was going to be fun.

We had a long warm up spanking and I had a chance to try out some of their various implements they brought along. Of special interest to me was the Jokari paddle. I had heard about these and was intrigued.

Apparently Jokari is a paddle type game and the paddle itself is rather thick and looks like a cross between a ping pong paddle and a racket ball racket. It really felt good in my hand...very balanced. I gave her a nice sound spanking with this little gem. I also had the opportunity to try out my new ruler strap and my meanie. Yes, the reactions tend to show that it is a little mean.

S4E and I had a nice scene and a good, sound spanking but nothing over the top. We had a great conversation about the psychology of spanking. The idea of really looking at the people involved with spanking as actual people and not just automatically classifying spanking as an abnormal behavior. She spoke about doing some scientific research on this in her studies and I hope that pans out. You should be hearing more about this in my blog because I have always wanted to see some real study on this interest that does not begin with a bias against those of us with the proclivity to spank.

That's all for tonight but more will be coming on the party. In the meantime I will probably be searching ebay for a Jokari paddle...

Tools of the Trade XVI

This is my official spanking chair. I am very much interested in the old-fashioned aspects of spanking. Correct positioning, the rituals and of course the straight-backed wooden chair. To me this is a very traditional image which reminds many of us of good old-fashioned spankings.

I chose this chair for just this purpose. It's austere and very solid. It provides me a very good base on which to place the naughty young lady across my lap. It is also sturdy enough to use the seat as a place for the disciplinee to place her hands when bending her over for a formal paddling.

Over the knee is my favorite position and this chair is perfect for it. I have spanked in a variety of locations and have used many different types of seats. Sometimes for protracted spankings or if the spankee has a back problem for instance, a bed or couch works well. I think it's important to be adaptive.

But in a perfect world, a solid wood chair is the perfect place to sit to give a sound OTK spanking!

Tools of the Trade XV

This is my main rubber paddle. I got it from an online vendor on the recommendation from one of my Yahoo friends. (Yes she is a spankee) This paddle is about 1/2 inch thick of solid rubber and it packs a wallop. Not a wallop like a wooden paddle packs, but more a wallop in terms of a deep, burning sting.

I have not had this long enough to learn all its capabilities yet but so far it is a very effective implement of discipline. All of the naughties who have felt this so far have told me that it stings like the very dickens and it has proven to illicit promises to behave much better indeed. I haven't yet found someone who would consider this a favorite option for 'play' type spankings but it certainly engenders a lot of respect for a punishment.

It is 12 inches long and 3 wide so it has a short enough handle to use OTK which is my fave anyway. It's big enough to cover about a 1/3 of the average female butt cheek, so it's not too huge to have good control. (No I don't have any data on the area of the average cheek, but this my estimate). It is flexible so you do have to kind of aim it to keep it travelling in the right direction.

I am very happy with the purchase, however I have not yet had an enthusiastic response from those who have felt it. Spirited responses yes, but not enthusiastic ......yet anyway ;)

Novelty Paddles II

I'm not really sure why I like these. There is just something about seeing a paddle for sale in a 'vanilla' type place. Maybe it's because they are hard to find now.....they harken back to another time when paddlings were more accepted...even expected.

Plus they usually have interesting sayings on them.

I was able to pick up a few of these in a tourist trap in Central Missouri in '07. When I went back last year, they were gone. I'm glad I grabbed them when I did.

I'm not really sure what the wording on this one means...but I thought it was cute.

One of the problems with today's souvenir type paddles is that they are made for show. They typically are not thick enough for any real use. As evidenced by the crack in this particular item which I picked up in Vegas a few years ago.....

Luckily I have plenty of other paddles to do the heavy lifting :)

Tools of the Trade XIV

This is a neat addition to my collection, a light-weight balsa wood paddle. It was a gift from a Yahoo friend. It's become one of my faves.

It's good sized, big enough to cover at least half of an average butt cheek (depending on the bottom of course). It makes a nice loud paddly smacking sound when it makes contact. But it's made of such light wood that it gives more of a surface sting rather than the penetrating thud of a thick wooden paddle. It's good for longer paddlings, especially over my knee. I love wood paddles and it's good to have one you can use solidly for a good long time without leaving nasty bruises.

But it appears pretty formidable and the look on a spankee's eyes as I pull it out of the bag is one of nervousness. Until you feel how light it is, it looks pretty mean.

I think it would float but I haven't tried that yet. This paddle would probably be just the thing for a hot tub spanking party :)

Never been to one of those, but a man does have to be prepared !

Tools of the Trade XIII

This is a new bath brush I bought recently. I got it at one of the bath places in the mall. I couldn't pass it up...it's hard to find good wood brushes it seems. For some reason in '08 I didn't see a bath brush I didn't want to buy.

This one has a long handle, about 16 inches and a big round 'business end'. It feels pretty sturdy but of course it's not designed for the use I'll have for it. I smacked this thing against my palm and it really resonates. I think just the threat of it will get the attention of a naughty girl.

The handle is a little too long for over the knee use, but I have experimented and it can be done with care. I'm sure the prospect of bending over for a spanking with this brush will inspire good behavior (at least afterwords). I have to be careful with this one. It is a HUGE difference from my other hairbrush.

They had plastic ones that were almost identical but I think wood is just more traditional, ya know?

Tools of the Trade VII 1/2

This is my other school paddle. It has the same dimensions as the first one I posted about but the holes make it more formidable. The holes cut down on wind resistance and allow a faster swing. They also make it look more serious which can focus someone's attention on their behavior. A big part of discipline is mental, so sometimes you need an implement that gets the naughty one thinking about the reasons for the punishment.

I use this one on a clothed bottom because it can be pretty harsh. The holes are beveled but this paddle can still make a very strong statement on the bottom of a naughty girl. This paddle is for no nonsense discipline when used with determination. Or with a lighter touch it can be a good role play tool as well.

It's useful when the regular school paddle just isn't sinking in....

Tools of the Trade XII

A belt whuppin' is one of the most traditional methods of corporal punishment.

My belt is a good tool for a number of reasons. For one, it's always available. It's right there on my hip and ready for use when needed. In fact just reaching for my belt buckle can have a positive effect on a young lady's attitude. You need something to hold your pants up, and a thick leather belt is a perfect way to always have a helper available.

I travel a lot and it's good to have a spanking implement that is an everyday object. I can bring it on the plane and not have to worry about it being noticed. It doesn't scream 'Spanking Implement' like a paddle does so it slides right by without a second thought. Even when I don't bring any tools on a trip, I always have my belt available...just in case.

It also is very effective. There is a reason the belt is a time-honored implement of correction. It gives a good solid stinging sensation and also makes a sound that gets someone's attention. A leather belt is supple enough to give a sound spanking but not give the thud of a big paddle. There is definitely an aura about the belt which adds to its effectiveness. "Do I need to take my belt off?" is a question that tends to send shivers and engenders cooperation.

All in all the belt is a great, domestic type tool. And the worried look on the face of a naughty girl when I reach for my belt tells me it's a formidable instrument of discipline.

Tools of the Trade XI

One my good friends recently commented on Apple Paddle post and mentioned that a little hand would be cuter.

So my next Tool to be featured is my handy crop. It is very light and well balanced. It is actually quite easy to control and you can focus a good pop right where you want it. It's kind of a lighter implement, but if you flick the wrist just right you can make nice sting. The nylon shaft can also be used as a cane-type item if you want to go that way.

I think the little hand at the end is pretty neat. Though I have not really been able to leave a good little hand print on the bottom. That would probably take some practice.

Any volunteers out there?

Tools of the Trade X

This is my trusty ping pong paddle (or table tennis bat to some).

It is one of my all-time favorites. It is thin and gives a good sting but doesn't leave nasty bruises. It is very good for over the knee spanking because it's compact. It can also cover most of a cheek.

I also like these because they are pretty easily available. Lots of people have these hanging around and it doesn't scream 'spanking implement'. Well it does for people like me :) but not so much for the vanilla world. They are also pretty cheap and easy to find in walmart, kmarts etc when you're in a pinch.

There is just something special about an implement that is found in many homes and lives a non-spanking life until grabbed by a determined discipliner. Just screams domestic discipline to me. Think of how many spankers over the years who have grabbed one from the 'rumpus room' to deal with a bad attitude or saucy mouth. I use it a lot, especially early in a spanking.

It can also leave some interesting patterns on the bottom due to the rubber covering. The bumpy feel of it rubbed across the flesh prior to a smack can really wake up the spankee and build anticipation :)

Tools of the Trade IX

This is my rubber strap. It's basically a thin piece of rubber that has been shaped into a strap shape. It's homemade and was given to me at a spanking party. It doesn't seem like much but it really builds a fire in the caboose.
Most spankees start reacting almost immediately. It is good because its fairly quiet and doesn't cause much marking. Well it will make a bottom nice and red but not usually bruises. It's the first rubber item I ever got and I'm still quite fond of it.
It's not all that big and is easily used in the OTK position unlike some of the large prison type rubber straps that are available. Not saying I wouldn't get one of those, but I generally prefer the good ole over the knee style tools.

Lots of times it's tough to get a good swat with this one because of all the wriggling and twisting related to it. A very effective implement. It rolls up and is easy to hide when necessary.

Tools of the Trade VIII

This is my spanking ruler. It's not a real measuring device, instead it was specifically designed to smack a bottom. It's a little thicker than a regular ruler and is just about a foot long. It has been coated with several layers of sealant. That's important for real use because a typical ruler can be very prone to splintering; and no one wants that. The edges have been smothed and coated plus the extra thickness gives it strength.

It gives a good bite because it concentrates the sting to a narrow band. I'd like one that is longer so I could reach both cheeks at once, but this is nice for lighter use. It is very effective on the undercurve of the bottom and the crease between the cheeks and upper thighs. I can aim very precisely with this implement. Excellent for a school-type scene and it makes a nice crack when I smack it into my palm as a lead in to the spanking.

Tools of the Trade VII

This is one of my wooden school paddles. I have another that is identical except it has holes. This one is fairly thick and is a formidable instrument of discipline. I usually use it over jeans (just like in school), because it can be a harsh implement if not used with care. I think it's almost too big to use on the bare unless it is used lightly. It's very important to aim a paddle like this to the lower part of the cheeks where the most padding is. Interestingly this is also the part of your butt that you use to sit :)
I'm very into school paddling so this is a favorite for me. I don't role play an awful lot, but school scenes really appeal to me. So this type of paddle is perfect. In a playful setting you can build a good sting without hitting super hard. Just holding it in my hand tends to focus the attention on the girl who has a date with it.
For punishment purposes, this tool can really send a message. I will use it at the end of a longer punishment so that the lesson will be remembered. In those situations it will be very hard on the clothed bottom or a little less on the panties. You don't need a lot of swats with this beauty to know you got spanked!

Tools of the Trade VI

This is my small leather strap. It's kind of thin and short. It's not good for a real hard punishment type strappings, but more for a lighter warm up style. Though when applied with vigor it delivers a real sting!

Because it's short I can use it OTK and still keep control of it, which is important with a strap. The flexibility of them can cause them to get away from you.

Because it's small and thin it can also be used to pinpoint some smacks on the sensitive bottom-thigh junction, and other more delicate areas. These always seem to cause a reaction :)

Tools of the Trade V

This is my wooden hairbrush. It's nothing too special, just a standard brush I got at a hair salon supply store. It's small and compact but also delivers a painful swat to the bottom. It has a short handle so it doesn't have the leverage of a bath brush but it's easy to control and I can really give a good spanking with it. A hairbrush tends to combine the sting and thud factors so control is important. This combination usually means I have a squirming girl on my lap and I want something I can easily aim well.
I like it because it's a really traditional implement and it carries with it all the mental and emotional elements of an old-fashioned spanking just like mom used to give! It also looks like a regular household item so it is easy to be discreet with it. I travel a lot on airplanes so this is a good one to bring along. If anything happens it should be overlooked by security. It is rarely overlooked by the naughty girl who happens to gain its attention however.

Tools of the Trade IV

This is my lightweight wooden paddle which I have nicknamed 'Red Death'. I came up with this nickname based on the reaction I get from pretty much every girl I've ever spanked with it. These reactions run from the physical: wriggling, bucking, kicking etc; to the verbal: 'please not that one', 'I don't deserve THAT' etc; to the non-verbal: pleading eyes, backing away, covering the bottom etc.
It doesn't seem like much, only about 14 inches long and rather thin. When you pick it up you can barely feel the weight. But the sting it produces is quite impressive. I've been told it's similar to a hairbrush without the 'thud'. It warms the bottom very quickly and leaves a lasting impression. I use it in punishment much more than play. The handle is long enough to use for a bent-over paddling but short enough to use OTK, which is how I usually employ it.

Tools of the Trade III

This is my official spanking strap. OK there is nothing official about it other than it's a strap designed with spanking in mind. It's basically like a thick leather belt that has been folded over and the ends connected together forming a handle. It's fairly heavy but not too long. I can use it OTK as long as I position the spankee just so, but I usually use it on someone who is lying face down. Over pillows on the bed is the preferred.
It's soft and supple and looks imposing. Sometimes I prefer it to using my belt because it's got a handle so I don't have to hold the ends together. It gives a good solid sting and a little bit of thud but nothing like a wood paddle. I like the fact that it's not too long so it's easy to keep it from wrapping. I'll use it for several strokes on one side, then walk around and give some from the other side. I can give solid strokes with this thing.
Of course a belt has other benefits. One is that it's very available and has a vanilla life of its own. there is also something to be said for the look on a girl's face as she sees and hears the buckle undone and the belt slip off.

Tools of the Trade II

This is my clear lexan paddle. It's about 1o inches long and 3/8 inch thick.
The handle is a little long but it's still good for OTK purposes. It imparts a very solid sting. Lexan is some kind of space-age plastic that is supposed to be unbreakable. I know it's pretty tough! You can give a good spanking with it and it causes less bruising than wood. It gets a very big response when applied to a girl's bottom. It's one that I have to be careful with and not break out too much. Lest they all run away in fear LOL
